Walailak University Graduate Scholarships

Full tuition fee waiver for high-potential applicant enrolled the international doctoral degree programs or doctoral degree programs programs with English-medium instruction.

Eligibility of Advisor

  • A permanent lecturer at WU
  • Contained research experiences and expertise on the student thesis
  • Have at least 4 articles published internationally in the SCOPUS database 
    Social Science – have more than two published articles with a role as the first author or corresponding author indexing in Quartile 2 (Q2) or higher within a period of 5 years, counting from the year of student enrollment
    Science and Technology & Health Sciences – have more than two published articles with a role as the first author or corresponding author indexing in Quartile 1 (Q1) or higher within a period of 5 years, counting from the year of student enrollment
    *In the event of retirement, the thesis advisor must be responsible for overseeing the student’s thesis to ensure the student can successfully complete their studies according to the plan, as a Co-advisor.

Eligibility of Student

  • All nationalities
  • Having graduated from universities in Group 1 and 2 according to the classification of Thai universities by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation or having graduated from foreign research universities.
  • Have academic records with GPAX
    3.25 (on 4.00 scale) for Bachelor’s degree holder
    3.50 (on 4.00 scale) for Master’s degree holder

    *In the case of completing a master’s degree, with a research-oriented thesis plan, there must be research articles published in international academic journals indexed in the Scopus database.
    **In case the cumulative grade point average does not meet the above criteria, consideration may be given to research publications in international journals indexed in the Scopus database as an alternative on a case-by-case basis.

  • Applicant must have an English language proficiency, which needs to be demonstrated as equivalent to or more than an official TOEFL score of 500 (Paper based) or score according to the University’s announcement
  • Not being a recipient of scholarships of the same type from other organizations.

Publication before Graduation 

  • At least 2 research article written by scholarship recipients MUST be published or have been formally accepted for publication in peer review academic journal indexed in SCOPUS database
    Type 1.1 and 1.2 – two publications in Scopus Q1
    Type 2.1 and 2.2 – one publication in Scopus Q1 + one publication in Scopus Q2 or higher

Conditions

  • Student in coursework program (Type 2.1 and 2.2) must have at least 3.35 of GPA for every term
  • Submit a progress report to the CGS every term
  • Work as a TA for under-graduate students at least 1 subject, not less than 45 h/term 
  • Students must study full-time at Walailak University.
