PILOSOPHY
Developing new materials is one of the most important and challenging things for the 21st century because new materials are the key to build a future economy. Therefore, materials science is an important science in the sustainable development of resource management. Lecturers of the Master of Science Program Materials Science and Innovation believe that creation of profound and up-to-date international material science knowledge requires knowledgeable human resources that are deep and broad material science expertise and have the potential to conduct internationally advanced research as well as to have cooperation at the international level. The gained knowledge can be applied to create innovations and technologies that will continually improve the quality of life of people and the national and international economy.

– To produce postgraduates with knowledge, abilities, skills and expertise in materials science both theoretical and practical. Able to create research and develop new knowledge that is profound in materials science or develops new innovations that use material science knowledge as a base and is universal.
– To produce postgraduates that can analyze academic data with rationale and effect, solve problems systematically, able to effectively communicate using a universal language to others, and have skills in using information technology. They can also learn by themselves throughout their lives.

- A cumulative grade point average of not less than 3.25 or its equivalent, or
- A cumulative grade point average of not less than 3.00 and having at least one related research paper published in an academic journal.
- Required English score of 450 points of TOEFL ITP or be equivalent (see English comparison table)
Type A2 (Coursework and Thesis)
- A cumulative grade point average of not less than 2.50 or its equivalent, or
- A cumulative grade point average of not less than 2.00 or equivalent and a cumulative grade point average in the major related to the course of not less than 2.75 or its equivalent; or
- A cumulative grade point average of not less than 2.00 or equivalent. and having work experience related to the course for not less than 1 year with a certificate from an agency or supervisor; or approved by the Graduate Program Committee.

SELECTION PROCESS
- All received applications will be assessed and ranked against the eligible criteria for the available quota by the University committee.
- Outcome will be circulated after the selection process is finalized.
GRADUATION CRITERIA
- Passed the English examination according to Walailak University regulations.
- Passed the thesis examination in English and the complete thesis has been submitted to the university.

Be a Thai national or a foreigner with a bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or other related fields in accordance with the rules of Walailak University regulation on Graduate Studies, B.E. 2563 (2020) for international programs in the bi-semester system.

- Applicants for postgraduate studies must pass the English language proficiency requirements as announced by the Walailak university regulation.
- Applicants for postgraduate studies who are domiciled primarily in English or come from a country where English is the official language or Thai students who graduated with a bachelor’s degree from an English-speaking country are exempt from taking foreign language examinations deemed to have met the condition of English as a foreign language; or
- Applicants for postgraduate studies must have an English language test score that is not less than 2 years old on the test date, i.e., TOEFL (Paper Based) is not lower than 450 or its equivalent will be accepted as an ordinary student.
- Applicants for postgraduate studies must have an English language test score that is not less than 2 years old on the test date, i.e. TOEFL (Paper Based) not lower than 400-449 or its equivalent will be accepted as an ordinary student with the condition. They must participate in the English Language Proficiency Development Program that organized by the Graduate School. And must take the test until a TOEFL (Paper Based) English language score is not lower than 450 or its equivalent before graduation. The student is responsible for the cost of participating in the project.
