The College of Graduate Studies (CGS) at Walailak University (WU) recently organized the new graduate student orientation for the 2-nd semester of academic year 2023. The event took place on January 4, 2024, from 9:00 – 12:00 PM at the Assoc.Prof.Dr.Suniphon Phummankun Meeting Room on the 1-st floor of academic building 9, Walailak University, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand. Additionally, the orientation was conducted through the Zoom cloud meeting platform, emphasizing inclusivity for all new students.

In a gathering that marked the beginning of a new academic journey for 21 fresh faces, the session commenced with an engaging video presentation showcasing the academic potential of Walailak University.

The highlight of the event was the warm welcome extended by the Dean of CGS, Associate Professor Dr. Phongpichit Channuie. In his inspirational address, Dr. Channuie not only welcomed the new students but also shared his vision for elevating graduate studies at WU to meet global standards. He expressed his commitment to ensuring that students navigate their graduate life seamlessly, within a suitable timeframe.

Following the welcome speech, students had the valuable opportunity to interact with CGS staffs. This engagement served a dual purpose—students were introduced to the guidelines for creating their academic plans, and they met with the staff responsible for guiding them through the workings of thesis-related matters.

The orientation also facilitated information from key supportive centers within WU. These included:

1. Center for Educational Services (CES): providing essential guideline for registration system.

2. Center for Library Resources and Educational Media (CLM): a hub of knowledge and resources to enhance the learning experience.

3. Center for Digital Technology (CDT): providing the university’s network and email account.

The collaborative efforts of these supportive centers are integral to creating a holistic learning environment that cultivates the growth and development of each student.
