In a momentous event that marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of its students, The College of Graduate Studies (CGS) at Walailak University (WU) hosted a contract signing ceremony for the Walailak University Graduate Scholarships (WUGS) and Research Fund (RF) on Thursday, August 10, 2023. The event took place from 2:30 PM to 16:30 PM at the AD3411 conference room within the Architecture and Design Building.

The ceremony was attended by 17 talented scholarship recipients and 4 dedicated grantees, all of whom were gathered to officially endorse their awards and grants. The programs were inducted by Associate Professor Dr.Phongpichit Channuie, the Dean of CGS, who commenced the event with a heartfelt  congratulations speech directed at the awardees and their advisors. This heartfelt recognition was a testament to their exceptional dedication and hard work that earned them these distinguished honors.

The ceremony then transitioned to an essential session, during which Dr. Somruethai Bouyam, a member of the CGS staff and the moderator of this event, explained the key provisions of the Research Fund Contract. Grantees were given the opportunity to accurately review the contract before appending their signatures, and comprehensive explanations were provided regarding the procedures for fund disbursement and the submission of research progress reports. Miss Sujinda Youngjeen, the coordinator of the research fund, was introduced to all grantees, ensuring they were well-acquainted with the figurehead responsible for facilitating their research activities.

As the event continued to describe, the focus shifted to the Walailak University Graduate Scholarships (WUGS) contracts, about five distinct categories included:

  • Fully Funded Scholarships for PhD students
  • Tuition Fee Waiver Scholarships for PhD students
  • Tuition Fee Waiver Scholarships for PhD students with Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
  • Tuition Fee Waiver Scholarships for Master’s students
  • Tuition Fee Waiver Scholarships for Master’s students with MOU

The clarification of these scholarship categories was facilitated by the moderator and Miss Niramon Boonsang, a coordinator of the WUGS program was introduced. The presentation for WUGS provided invaluable insights into the scholarships

The event culminated as each scholarship recipient and grantee received a comprehensive understanding of the responsibilities, benefits, and opportunities that accompanied their awards. The ceremony not only celebrated their achievements but also laid the foundation for their future endeavors, fostering a sense of unity, commitment, and excellence among the academic community at Walailak University.
