College of Graduate Studies (CGS), Walailak University (WU) recently hosted an informative new graduate student orientation for the 1st semester of the academic year 2023 on Tuesday, August 8th 2023 at 9:00 – 14:00. The event took place at the Thasala Phirom Meeting room, located within academic building 8 on the university campus.

The orientation commenced with Dr. Somruethai Bouyam, the moderator of the event, presenting a video showcasing the highlights of Walailak University. Following the video, Associate Professor Dr. Phongpichit Channuie, the Dean of CGS, took the stage to deliver an inspiring and motivational speech. The Dean words of wisdom were directed towards empowering the new students to embark on their academic journey with enthusiasm and determination.

A highlight of the orientation was a special segment dedicated to recognizing the achievements of current students who participated in the OneDay Life Video Campaign. This innovative campaign invited students to document a day in their life at Walailak University through video documentation. The event served as a platform to honor and celebrate the creativity and experiences of the participating students.

As the orientation continued, students had the valuable opportunity to interact with what is CGS and our duties. Additionally, the students had the opportunity to meet with representatives from key support centers on campus. The Center of Digital Technology (CDT) shared comprehensive information about registering for WU PASS, the gateway to accessing the university’s WiFi network. The Center for Educational Services (CES) provided insights into the university’s registration system, aiding students in understanding the process and procedures. Moreover, the Center for Library Resources and Educational Media (CLM) introduced students to the vast resources available in the university’s library and database, emphasizing their importance in academic research and growth.

Concluding the event was an engaging and informative Q&A session. This session allowed students to seek clarifications, voice their queries, and gain further understanding about various aspects of university life and resources.

The successful launch of the new graduate student orientation by CGS at Walailak University signifies a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for incoming students. Through engaging presentations, motivational speeches, and interactive sessions, the university aims to equip its students with the knowledge and tools they need for a successful academic journey.
