Type of Scholarships
Walailak University has a proactive policy to expand the number of academically capable individuals to pursue graduate studies, drive the enhancement of teaching and learning at the graduate level to be recognized nationally and internationally, and support graduate education and research.
Therefore, the College of Graduate Studies (CGS) has initiated a project to support graduate studies as Walailak University provides scholarships exempting tuition fees and other expenses according to the conditions, criteria, and duration specified in scholarships.
- To promote and support Walailak University’s graduate education and research.
- To increase the quantity and quality of research publications by the university in international journals indexed in the Scopus database.
- To encourage academically capable students to enroll in graduate programs at Walailak University.
- To support scholarship recipients to have opportunities to learn and gain experience in knowledge transfer by serving as teaching assistants (TA) or research assistants (RA).

- Publication Requirement: Must publish at least 2 articles in Scopus Q1 (Percentile ≥ 85).
- Duration: 6 semesters (for Master holders) / 8 semesters (for Bachelor holders).

4.1 Graduate Program Committee of each curriculum selects qualified candidates as follow:
- Are qualified follows item 3
- Are a personnel with high potential for having a tendency to publish research results before graduation
- Have other qualifications at the discretion of the Graduate Program Committee
4.2 College of Graduate Studies, Walailak University, proposes a qualified list of those who passed deliberation deserve scholarship to the Graduate Scholarship Allocation Committee
4.3 College of Graduate Studies, Walailak University, announces the results of scholarship recipients of all types and monitors students until the end of the scholarship period.
The College of Graduate Studies, Walailak University, announces the selection results for all types of the scholarships and monitors scholarship recipients every academic semester until their scholarship status ends
The scholarship status ends when any of the following criteria are met.
6.1 Scholarship recipients must pass the proposal examination within the specified period.
Master degree – within a period of two (2) semesters, counting from the first semester.
Doctoral degree
– Doctoral degree level that continues from the master’s degree Type 1.1 and 2.1. Within a period of two semesters, counting from the first semester.
– Doctoral degree level that continues from the bachelor’s degree Type 1.2 and 2.2. Within a period of three semesters, counting from the first semester.
6.2 Upon completing studies at the educational level for which the scholarship was awarded
6.3 Upon the student status at the Walailak University expires
6.4 Upon fulfilling the conditions of the scholarship period as stated in Item 3
6.5 The research progress is below the defined threshold of curriculum/school /college
6.6 If there is misconduct, academic dishonesty, or disciplinary suspension from the university, or any other behavior deemed appropriate for scholarship termination by the thesis advisory committee with the approval of the graduate program committee
6.7 Unable to study research full-time.
7.1 Scholarship recipients must also acknowledge Walailak University as the scholarship provider by including the statement, “This work has been supported by Walailak University Graduate Scholarships” in both publications and the thesis.
7.2 Scholarship recipients must complete the requirements as indicated in Item 3 before being approved finishing the degree.
7.3 In case scholarship recipients experience circumstances leading to the termination of the scholarship according to clauses 5.1, 5.3, 5.5, and 5.6, they will be responsible for reimbursing the university for the entire scholarship amount.
7.4 The program/school/college will conduct academic monitoring of scholarship recipients every semester.
7.5 Study leave for scholarship recipients is carried out following the regulations of Walailak University. Scholarship recipients are responsible for paying the fees for study leave of absence themselves. It shall be considered that the recipient of the scholarship does not wish to receive scholarship support for that semester.
7.6 Students in the due time under the scholarship agreement period but have not yet completed their studies are responsible for all expenses incurred after the contract expiration date. They will be responsible for all these expenses themselves.
7.7 If the scholarship recipients encounter unforeseeable circumstances that prevent them from completing their studies within the specified timeframe according to the scholarship contract, it will be at the discretion of the graduate scholarship allocation committee. The scholarship recipients must provide information for consideration by the graduate scholarship allocation committee within 3 months before the scholarship agreement expires
Scholarship recipients submit reprint(s) of published works in academic journals or accepted letters to publish in academic journals when applying for graduation.
In the event that a scholarship recipient is terminated, the studies or scholarship eligibility according to Item 6.1, 6.3, 6.5, and 6.6, the student must reimburse the university for the amount received within the specified timeframe. In case of default in payment, the recipient must reimburse the entire amount plus interest at a rate not exceeding the legal limit.
The scholarships apply to students enrolling from the academic year 2026 onwards. If the conditions of the scholarships are not met, the College of Graduate Studies shall present recommendations from the Graduate Scholarship Allocation Committee and propose a decision from the president. The decision of the president shall be final.
