In a significant move to broaden international academic horizons, the College of Graduate Studies (CGS), Walailak University (WU), recently participated in a strategic mission led and supported by the School of Informatics to establish a formal partnership with Sichuan University of Science and Technology (SUST) and Aopeng Agency.
The mission, which took place from March 30–31, 2026, was driven by the initiative and resources of the School of Informatics. Representing the College of Graduate Studies, Dr. Darunee Boonkrong, Assistant to Dean for Chinese Strategy and Educational Collaboration, joined the delegation headed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Siriwatchana Kaeophanuek, Dean of the School of Informatics.
The discussions focused on several key pillars of internationalization including:
Graduate Student Recruitment: Creating streamlined pathways for international enrollment.
Academic Exchange: Facilitating mobility for both faculty and students between Thailand and China.
Short-course Development: Designing specialized training and certification programs.
Research Collaboration: Initiating joint research projects between the two institutions to enhance global academic output.
The Walailak University delegation was warmly received by the senior leadership of SUST and Aopeng Agency. Notable attendees included Li Chao (Vice President), Chen Liting (Assistant to the President), and Wang Qian (Director of International Cooperation), among other distinguished faculty members.
This collaboration marks a milestone in the university’s “Global Reach” strategy, ensuring sustainable academic growth and strengthening ties between Thai and Chinese higher education institutions.
