Ethical Principles for Research Involving Humans (HSP: Human Subject Protection)

The College of Graduate Studies (CGS) at Walailak University, led by Dean Associate Professor Dr. Phongpichit Channue, in collaboration with the Research and Innovation Institute of Excellence (RIIE), led by Director Associate Professor Dr. Wichitpan Rongwong, hosted a workshop titled “Ethical Principles for Research Involving Humans (HSP: Human Subject Protection)” on Monday, March 16, 2026, at the Pattarathammaporn Meeting Room, Walailak University Hospital.

The morning session was led by guest speaker Associate Professor Supaporn Sudnongbua, Ph.D., from the Faculty of Public Health at Naresuan University, Thailand. Her comprehensive lecture covered six key topics:

  1. Basic principle of Human Research Ethics: International and National Regulations

  2. Research in Vulnerable Subjects/Population

  3. Types of SBS Human Research (Ethics Focus)

  4. Informed Consent Process in Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) Research

  5. Risk & Benefit Assessment and Risk Minimization, and

  6. Privacy and Confidentiality in SBS Research Ethics

Following the informative morning lectures, participants engaged in an afternoon workshop to put their knowledge into practice, reinforcing the ethical standards necessary to ensure all research at Walailak University prioritises the rights, safety, and well-being of human subjects.
