Human Research Ethics

On Friday, May 16, 2025, the College of Graduate Studies (CGS), Walailak University, together with the Research and Innovation Institute of Excellence (RIIE), held “The Training Course on Human Research Ethics (English Session)” at the Si Thammarat Auditorium, 3rd Floor, Architecture and Design Building, Walailak University. The training was opened by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phongpichit Channuie, Dean of the College of Graduate Studies.

The aim of this training was to help graduate students, staff, and researchers understand the importance of ethics in research involving people. More than 50 participants joined the event.

The speakers were experts from the Forum for Ethical Review Committee in Thailand (FERCIT) and well-known medical institutions. The speakers included:

  • Dr. Anothai Pocathikorn
    (Faculty of Medicine, Prince of Songkla University)

  • Col. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nithipun Suksumek
    (Phramongkutklao College of Medicine)

  • Col. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Naiyarat Prasongsook
    (Phramongkutklao College of Medicine)

  • Dr. Piti Chalongviriyalert
    (Medical Service Department)

The training covered several important topics such as:

  • What research ethics are and why they matter

  • Respecting privacy and keeping information secret

  • Avoiding conflicts of interest

  • Understanding risks and benefits in research

  • Getting informed consent from participants

  • Protecting people who are vulnerable

At the end of the training, participants were asked to complete an online post-test and a short satisfaction survey. Those who pass the post-test with a score of at least 80% will receive a certificate.

The College of Graduate Studies is happy to support all graduate students to become skilled, responsible, and ethical researchers.
