Walailak University (WU) organized a watering Songkran for the elderly for Songkran Festival 2023 on 10 April 2023 at Architecture and Design Biulding. It’s important to celebrate and include people of all ages in festivals and events, and this is a great way to do that while also showing respect and appreciation for our elders.

The College of Graduate Studies (CGS) at WU getting involved in the Walailak Songkran Festival 2023 by presenting healthy fruit smoothies. There were many other organizations and departments at WU participating in the festival by setting up booths. It’s always nice to have a variety of options available for festival-goers.

Songkran is a traditional Thai New Year festival that takes place annually from April 13th to 15th. This festival is also known as the water festival, which is marked by water-related activities such as splashing water on each other as a symbol of purification, renewal, and good luck.

The Songkran festival is a time for paying respect to elders, visiting temples, and making merit, according to Thai culture. Pouring water on Buddha statues, monks, and elders is believed to be a way of seeking their blessings and cleansing oneself of bad luck and sins.
